Hot Times in the City

With a heat index of 115 degrees farenheit, the heat is all anyone talks about lately.

One of the many wonderful features of this apartment (even pre-renovation) is.... Central Air. After 14 years on Long Island doing the twice-a-year fret about who was going to haul my window units in or out of the windows, season depending and my strength inadequate, I'm now living in "touch a button and the temperature goes the way you want" luxury. There are two electric units inside the apartment that cool the entire space in summer, and heat it in winter. Life=good.

The little thermoelectric cooler is managing to keep stuff just cold enough - it's not as cold as a refrigerator and on days like this a freezer for a little ice cream would be dreamy, but the little bit of food that fits in the tiny thing (designed for travel - it even came with a plug for a car's lighter socket) isn't spoiling so I'm a happy camper-in-a-NYC-apartment! With The Renovation just a few weeks away (heard that before, you say?), it's just not worth spending hundreds to fix the Sub Zero that's headed to the trash heap when The Renovation gets underway. In the meantime, living with a tiny cooler and shopping every day at least keeps the days interesting....
